Completing non-vocational PhD research - started part-time. In my thesis - "The Origin and Development of English Folk Plays" - I used cluster analysis, sequence matching and novel informatics techniques to investigate the evolution of a large collection of orally transmitted texts.

AstraZeneca R&D Charnwood (formerly Astra Charnwood)

Responsible for developing databases and applications for pharmaceutical discovery. These mostly centred on chemical structures, although they also needed significant expertise regarding biological test data.

Astra Charnwood, Loughborough (formerly Fisons Pharmaceuticals)

Responsible for developing and managing research information systems for pre-clinical chemists and biologists, including design, programming and user support.

Responsible for the provision of library and information services to scientific research staff and engineers in the whole of the CEGB Midlands Region (now Powergen).
